A Simple meal is what I’m all about. And these Hawaiian Haystacks are delicious, kid-friendly and super simple to make! Add this to your meal plan this week, and you’ll be glad you did!
The great thing about these, is that you can use as much or as little of all the toppings as you like, you can even add different toppings to make it your own!
Here are some of our favorite toppings:
- Green onions
- Crunchy Chow Mein Noodles
- Cheese (any sort will do, our favorite is colby jack)
- Cream of Chicken Soup — For this we use our Dairy Free version, which you can find here.
Begin by cooking rice, as much as is needed for your family. While the rice is cooking you prep all your toppings and put into individual bowls. Chop the celery, drain the pineapple, grate cheese etc.
If you are making your own cream of chicken soup do that while the rice is cooking as well. If you prefer not to make the dairy free version you can simply cook up a can of Cream of Chicken Soup according to the package directions.
Once everything is ready, you just assemble! This is where making haystacks is fun for the kids! They can each choose which toppings they would like and build their own!
It’s THAT simple!
Give this a try, and let me know how it went. I would love to hear if your family loves this as much as ours does!
