The Best Dairy Free Bread
A bread recipe that tastes so good you won’t even notice that it has no dairy! Use it for sandwiches, toast, warmed with butter and honey, so many possibilities. No need to look further, this recipe is simply the best!

  1. Start by adding warm water to a large cup (I use a quart size mason jar). Sprinkle 1/2 Tbsp of sugar and yeast in and stir. Let proof while beginning your bread mix.
  2. For Bread start by melting shortening in a large microwave safe cup or bowl. Add coconut milk and warm together. You want it warm, but not too warm because you don’t want to end up with scrambled eggs with the next step. Once all of these are mixed, add your yeast mixture, and mix well. Add this mixture to you mixing bowl, and gently mix in sugar and eggs.
  3. Next add the bread flour and mix on medium-high speed for 3-5 minutes. Then, slowly add your 3 cups of AP flour. Mix until you have a ball of dough that is just slightly sticky. Dump onto counter and kneed with a bit more flour, until dough is not sticky. Place in bowl, cover and allow to rise 30-45 minutes, or until doubled in size.
  4. Once risen, punch it down, divide into thirds, form into loafs and place in greased loaf pans. Bake for 18-21 minutes at 350 degrees. Will be golden brown on top.
